According to a resolution approved by the State Government, on December 30, the State Government decided to establish an EAC to study key indicators in all sectors and determine parameters.
The Maharashtra government appointed Tata Sons Chairman N Chandrasekaran as Chairman of its Economic Advisory Council (EAC). Anant Ambani, son of Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani, and Karan Adani, son of Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani, have been appointed to the council, according to a government resolution, along with 18 others. RIL CEO Anant Ambani has been nominated as a Diverse Experience Member while Karan Adani has been nominated as a Port and Special Economic Zone Experience Member.
According to a resolution approved by the State Government, on December 30, the State Government decided to establish an EAC to study key indicators in all sectors and determine parameters. The council is expected to formulate a development strategy focused on making Maharashtra a $1 trillion economy in consultation with multiple stakeholders. According to the resolution, “The deliberations are expected to provide important suggestions for the preparation of the Five-Year Plan, as well as the necessary policy measures for all sectors to increase their share of GDP.
The move is part of Maharashtra’s contribution towards the goal of making India a $5 trillion economy by 2027. The EAC consists of a Chairman, three full-time members at the level of Additional Chief Secretary or Principal Secretary, as well as 17 part-time members. The Council is expected to present an interim report within three months of its first meeting.
