Human composting is now approved in New York. After which, if any citizen now wants, he can make his body turn to dung by saying his wish before he dies. It is called an ecological way of dying. According to the BBC report, instead of burning or burying, another process is used with the corpse so that the body is composted and mixed with the soil.
In the US, it was first released in Washington in 2019. After that, Colorado, Vermont, and California also joined this episode. Now this process has also been approved in New York, after which it is the sixth state in America in which human composting is already legal. The governor here, Kathy Hochul, has sealed it in the past.
A special process is used in human composting. In this, the corpse is kept in a closed container. Next to the body are some pieces of wood, which are extremely thin, alfalfa, and some kind of hay. It is kept in such a way that it slowly breaks down and composts due to bacteria. After about a month, it is heated and put through a process to kill harmful germs and this prepared soil is given to your relatives. This soil can be used as a fertilizer for flowering plants, vegetables and trees.
Some firms also work there for this, including Recompose. The firm says it provides such services. This can reduce thousands of kilos of carbon per year by providing an alternative to the traditional process of burial or incineration. Since carbon dioxide is considered climate change as the main cause of global warming. Due to this, the temperature of the earth is increasing and it is continuously warming up. That is why it is believed that human composting will prove useful in preventing it.
The coffin used in traditional burial involves the cost of wood, the need for separate land, and additionally, the cost of many types of natural resources come into play. That’s why human composting is considered an eco-friendly way to die. Apart from this, the people who support this process also say that this will not only benefit the environment, but will also prove to be very useful in those cities where the cemetery is continuously declining.
