The meeting, called at the request of PCB Chairman Najam Sethi, will decide the fate of Pakistan’s Asian Cup hosting rights. If BCCI sources are to be believed, then there is no or absolutely no chance of Pakistan hosting the Asian Cup in September.

Board of Cricket of India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah is in Bahrain to attend an emergency meeting of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC). The meeting, called at the request of PCB Chairman Najam Sethi, will decide the fate of Pakistan’s Asian Cup hosting rights. If the BCCI sources are to be believed, then there is no, if any, chance of Pakistan hosting the Asian Cup in September.

The tournament is expected to be held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) retaining hosting rights, or Sri Lanka could be another option. A BCCI source said: “Jay is currently in Bahrain for the ACC meeting. BCCI will not change his stand. We will not go to Pakistan because we do not have permission from the government. ,

The recent Peshawar bombings have understandably raised security concerns about the resumption of cricket tournaments in Pakistan. In December last year, ACC Chairman Shah released the schedule for the continental tournament, and the Asian Cup venue was not mentioned. Following this, Sethi accused Shah of making a one-sided decision.
