Performance of Canon Powershot SX530

By increasing the zoom capability, we actually expected the camera to struggle a bit with performance. However, we found that shooting speed and image stabilization were no different from what we experienced with the PowerShot SX520 HS. You’ll still need a tripod or at least a flat surface to place the camera on when shooting at maximum zoom levels Check out the two images below to gauge the zoom capabilities of this camera.

In our ISO tests, we found that image fidelity didn’t deteriorate too much up to ISO 800 Noise starts to show at ISO 1600 But, even at ISO 1600 and ISO 3200, the test images weren’t completely underpowered.

In daylight, we noticed that the images had a natural warm color tone, which we really like. We liked it compared to the performance of the PowerShot SX520 HS, where colors appeared in all sample images. In shots taken with the PowerShot SX530 HS, most of the detail was intact and there was no barrel distortion.

We didn’t even find any discoloration. Macro mode produced some really good results. Compared to its predecessor, the PowerShot SX530 HS shows a noticeable leap in performance. However, the camera still does not handle the exposure well.

Live mode tends to produce artificial results and we advise users to stay away from it. In low-light testing, noise was toned down, but the camera still performed fairly well, capturing more detail than we expected. The automatic white balance mode does a poor job of detecting the type of light around you and produces completely different tones. Fortunately, this can be easily fixed by choosing the white balance manually.

1080p video at 30fps may not be as sharp as the 60fps video that some other cameras can shoot, but that said, we were very impressed with our sample video which had no frame drops, even when we rotated the camera in our hand. Details came out intact and colors were suitably vibrant.

This camera is perfect for shooting home movies. The battery lasts about 200 shots, which is close to Canon’s rate. However, it’s not great compared to the battery life of other cameras in the same price range.

Design of Canon Powershot SX530

The PowerShot SX530 HS has the same bridge design as the PowerShot SX520 HS, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. We still think the molded plastic body feels a bit cheap, and it would have been nice if Canon included a tilting LCD screen.

The dimensions of the PowerShot SX530 HS have changed so much that even if both cameras are placed side by side, the naked eye will not detect any difference. It’s 82mm tall and 92mm deep, but has the same 120mm width as its predecessor. It also weighs a gram more than the PowerShot SX520 HS at 441g.

The front of the camera has a huge lens barrel and there is enough space between the lens and the grip to hold it easily. The lens barrel has two framing buttons, one for finding and the other for fixing on a specific subject. We first saw this on the PowerShot SX520 HS. At the top is the flash, power button, a mode dial and a selection dial The shutter button rests on the grip surrounded by a zoom ring and feels reassuring to click.

On the right edge is a rubber flap that hides the A/V (digital) output and HDMI ports. A single speaker is located on the right side of the chamber. There is a raised edge on the right back and there are two buttons: one for recording video and the other for deleting content We found the video record button pushed too far for our liking. A small rubber pad sits next to the raised edge and is useful for resting your thumb.

The LCD screen is on the back left and next to it you can find the navigation panel, which also serves to toggle flash (right), focus mode (left), ISO settings (top) and display mode (bottom). . A button for functions/settings sits smack in the middle of the pad, the play button is on top, and two buttons for drive mode and menus are on the bottom. The tripod socket and battery compartment are located on the bottom of the camera.

Specifications and features of Canon Powershot SX530

The PowerShot SX530 HS has the same 1/2.3-inch 16-megapixel CMOS sensor as its predecessor. The telephoto end of the lens can now go up to 1,200mm, compared to 1,080mm on the PowerShot SX520 HS. Also, using ZoomPlus mode, you can zoom further (digitally) up to 100x to be precise.

However, it would have been great if Canon could have enlarged the other end of the lens as well; Even some smartphones can now zoom in larger than the 24mm PowerShot SX530 HS. Also, the lens is still a relatively slow shooter with a maximum aperture of f/3.4.

The camera uses Canon’s Digic 4+ image processor. In macro mode, the lens can get as close to a subject as 0 cm, which is quite impressive. The ISO range starts at ISO 100 and ends at ISO 3200 Metering modes include evaluative, center-weighted average, and spot The PowerShot SX520 HS has the usual set of shooting modes, including M (Manual), Av (Aperture Priority), TV (Shutter Priority), P (Program), Live View Control, Hybrid Auto, Auto, Creative Shot, SCN ( Scene ), Creative Filters and Movies.

The PowerShot SX530 HS can record 1080p video at 30fps. A major advantage of the PowerShot SX530 HS over its predecessor is connectivity with its Wi-Fi and NFC options. Once again, RAW’s inability to shoot feels like a missed opportunity for Canon.

The 3-inch LCD has the same 461k-dot resolution, and we think Canon could have gone with a sharper screen. However, there is no denying that it displays almost accurate colors and is quite readable in bright sunlight. We had no problems with viewing angles. There are no changes to the camera software and it is just as easy to use as the PowerShot SX520 HS. Connecting to Canon’s app via Wi-Fi to transfer images is a piece of cake and quite convenient too.

Value of Canon Powershot SX530

The PowerShot SX530 HS is a bit pricey, but its features make the price worth it. It offers spectacular images and has an extremely large zoom range The camera comes with all the bells and whistles you’d expect from Canon to make images clearer and more focused. It has the added ability to record HD video, as well as decent connectivity features. Build quality compares favorably to its direct rival, the Panasonic Lumix ZS70, but it’s not as waterproof as the Yesense waterproof camera.

Canon PowerShot SX530 Overview

This review of the Canon PowerShot HS shows that it is a solid and versatile camera with great features. The star of the show is undoubtedly the 50x digital zoom, which ensures great shots from any distance. The only downside is that focusing can be slow when it’s fully enlarged. Overall, it’s a capable camera with enough features for most users.
