Families of Ukraine disintegrated in the battle of Bakhmut

In recent weeks, Ukraine has made a slight breakthrough in Bakhmut. But the war continues within the city in the streets.

For the past nine months, Russia has been making every effort to capture Bakhmut. Many of their soldiers have died during this period.

The United States estimates that more than 20,000 Russian soldiers have been killed in eastern Ukraine since the start of the year, many of whom took part in the Battle of Bakhmut.

There is no such estimate available for the number of soldiers killed on the Ukrainian side, but their number could be much higher. The BBC’s Jonathan Beale meets a Ukrainian family who paid a heavy price for the Battle of Bakhmut. Some scenes in this report may disturb you.
