Deputy Superintendent of Police Sanobar Khan said weapons and ammunition were recovered from the terrorists. He said the dead were actively involved in terrorist activities against the security forces. They were wanted in connection with the January 21 attack on a police station in which one officer was killed and two police officers were injured. He was also wanted in connection with the attack on a police post in the Naushera district on December 3 last year.

In another incident in the district, police killed a terrorist in the Shabarra area after he opened fire on policemen manning a security post. Upon receiving the signal to stop for search, the terrorist opened fire on the police. These events occurred days before a Pakistani Taliban suicide bomber blew himself up inside a mosque in Peshawar, killing more than 100 people, mostly police officers.
