Delhi govt to spend Rs 1,000 cr in preparation for G20 summit, related events

New Delhi: It is estimated that various Delhi government agencies will spend more than Rs 1,000 crore on preparations for the G20 summit and related events in the national capital in the coming months.

The officers provided this information. It reported on Monday that various departments of the Delhi government and the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) would spend Rs 1,084 crore on beautification work and other similar preparations, in addition to upgrading civic infrastructure.

Delhi will host the main summit of the G20 (Group of 20) countries and seven other related events. The G20 events will be held in the national capital starting in March. Earlier this month, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia wrote to the Center requesting a grant of Rs 927 crore to undertake special development projects for the G20 summit. According to officials, 26 Delhi government departments and central agencies are working on preparations for the summit. (Agency)
