The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) issued an order to ban these apps following instructions from the Ministry of the Interior. “The order to ban 138 apps involved in betting, gambling and money laundering was issued last night,” an official told PTI on condition of anonymity.
Apart from this, an order has also been issued to block 94 apps involved in the unauthorized lending service. These apps were being operated by foreign entities, including China. They represented a threat to the country’s economic stability.”””” The official did not name the banned applications. Official inquiries sent to MeitY in this regard remained unanswered until the presentation of this report.
