The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways is working on a test plan for the Automatic License Plate Recognition System (Automatic License Plate Reader Camera) for the collection of tolls without stopping the vehicles. During the 2018-19 financial year, the average stopping time for a vehicle at the toll plaza was eight minutes. After the introduction of FASTag in 2020-21 and 2021-22, the average stopping time for vehicles in the plaza dropped to 47 seconds.
