Honda will launch the new Activa 6G with anti-theft function next week

Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI), one of the big two-wheeler companies, will launch its new Activa H-Smart scooter on Monday. It will be the premium version of the company’s best-selling Activa 6G with new technology.

The company has not given more information about this scooter. It is said that it will be given some new features along with the anti-theft system. It will compete with existing scooters on the market such as the TVS Jupiter and Hero Maestro. The new Activa will be lighter than the company’s existing scooter. Its weight can be reduced by about one kilogram from the DLX variant of the Activa. The new graphics and color options can be found in the Activa H-Smart. Its powertrain has also been improved. The same 110cc single-cylinder powertrain from the Activa could make 7.80bhp instead of 7.68bhp.

The H-Smart technology present in this scooter will include an anti-theft system. The company already offers the Honda Ignition Security System on the premium versions of its scooters. This feature can be given for the first time in the new Activa. It is likely that it will also be included in other two-wheelers of the company.

Last year was weak for the two-wheeler segment. December retail sales of two-wheelers were down to 11,33,138 units. These were the lowest December retail sales in the past three years. Last year this figure was 12,75,894 units. Reasons for this decline include reasons like rising inflation and slowdown. Hero MotoCorp December sales decreased by 1,13,634 units to 3,30,175 units. The company had sold 4,43,809 units in December last year. Hero MotoCorp’s market share decreased from 34.78 percent to 29.14 percent. The increase in sales of electric two-wheelers in recent months has also had an impact on the market. The sale of electric scooters from Ola Electric, which is included within the large companies of electric two-wheeled vehicles, is increasing by leaps and bounds. The company has sold around 25,000 electric scooters in December. Ola Electric opened 100 experience centers last year. The company is preparing to double the number of these experience centers this month. This will make it easier to buy electric scooters from the company.
