We had the chance to spend some time with the Redmi Note 7S. How did we like this phone at first glance? Let’s count…
If you’ve seen even one model from Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 7 series, suppose you’ve seen all the models. The design of Redmi Note 7S is similar to that of Redmi Note 7 and Redmi Note 7 Pro. But there is no gradient finish on the back panel of Redmi Note 7S. Apart from this, there is no difference in the design of the three Redmi Note 7 series phones. If you see, Xiaomi has achieved the best combination of beauty and premium design in the Redmi Note 7 series. So there is nothing wrong to stick to the same design.
Like other phones in the Redmi Note 7 series, the Redmi Note 7S feels solid in the hands. It’s a bit heavy, but not so heavy that it’s not comfortable in general use. The use of glass on the front and back panels definitely makes the phone a bit fragile. In such a situation, customers should have been extra careful while using Redmi Note 7S. Glass is prone to fingerprints, but it’s easy to get rid of them. Xiaomi says that the body of the phone comes with P2i nano coating. That is, there is protection against splashing water on it.

Xiaomi has endowed the phone with a 6.3-inch full-HD+ display and has a waterdrop-shaped notch on the front panel, which the company calls the Dot Notch. It uses the same display panel as the Redmi Note 7 and Redmi Note 7 Pro, so we have no complaints about the screen. Color reproduction is excellent. The screen is bright enough to be readable in direct sunlight.
The most important feature of the new smartphone is the 48-megapixel main rear camera. By the way, Xiaomi did not officially reveal the name of the main camera sensor used in the Redmi Note 7S at the launch event. But it is clear from the listing on the website that the company has used the Samsung ISOCELL Bright GM1 sensor, which is part of the Chinese variant of the Redmi Note 7. A 5-megapixel sensor with a 48-megapixel camera will work in tandem.
It is certain that in the coming days, Xiaomi fans will talk about better sensors in Samsung ISOCELL Bright GM1 and Sony IMX586 (part of Redmi Note 7 Pro). In the limited time we’ve spent with the phone, we’ve found that the camera takes decent photos. But these were overexposures for our taste. The Redmi Note 7S also has a 13-megapixel camera on the front panel. It is capable of taking great selfies. We will give the final comments on the camera of this phone in the review.
Octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor has been used in the Redmi Note 7S. The same processor is also part of the Redmi Note 7. In the limited time we spent with the phone, we didn’t have any problems in multitasking. During the review, we also had no complaints with the Redmi Note 7 with Snapdragon 660 processor.
Talking about other features, Xiaomi has provided a rear fingerprint sensor, USB Type-C port, hybrid dual sim tray, IR blaster and 4G LTE support on the phone. AI Face Unlock has also been given. Apart from this, the 4000 mAh battery that comes with the phone supports Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 4. The starting price of the smartphone is Rs 10,999. This price is for 3 GB of RAM and a 32 GB storage variant. The 4GB RAM and 64GB storage variant of Redmi Note 7S will retail for Rs 12,999 in the market.
We will be coming soon with a detailed Redmi Note 7S review.<!–
