IND vs AUS test series: Nagpur’s Vidarbha Cricket Ground is back in the news. The teams from India and Australia are going to land here for the first test. This stadium will witness the first match of the four Test series. Prior to this, the India team has played six tests here ie Nagpur in which the Indian team’s record is quite impressive. But the Australian team is coming here to play for the second time. Under the captaincy of MS Dhoni, who captained the Indian team for the first time, the Indian team defeated the Australian team captained by Ricky Ponting. Sachin Tendulkar played in a brilliant 109-run innings. While Virender Sehwag VVS Laxman, Sourav Ganguly and MS Dhoni also scored a half century. Based on all these batting, the Indian team posted a huge first innings score of 441 runs. Jason Krejza was one such bowler, who made the job of taking eight wickets for India. Apart from him, Mitchell Johnson and Shane Watson also took a wicket each, none of the other Australian bowlers being able to make a mark in front of the Indian batting line-up. After this he had to bat for the Australian team. Simon Katich scored a century for Australia, while Mike Hansi also scored a half century, but there was little the rest of the batting line-up could do. This was the reason why the entire Australia team was able to score 355 runs and fell behind on the basis of first innings. For India, Harbhajan Singh took three wickets, Ishant Sharma and Amit Mishra took two wickets, while Zaheer Khan took one wicket. In the first innings, the India team had taken the lead, but the second innings still remained.

As the India team came out to bat in the second innings, Virender Sehwag scored a brilliant 92 while MS Dhoni again scored a half-century. Harbhajan Singh also scored over 50 runs. India scored 295 runs in their second innings. Australia, already trailing in the early innings, had a big target to chase. In the second inning, starter Matthew Hayden was the only batter to hit 50+, scoring 77, but none of the other batters could do much. The whole team came out after scoring 209 runs. Harbhajan Singh again took four wickets while Ishant Sharma took two wickets and Amit Mishra took three wickets. The Indian team had won this match by a huge margin of 172 runs. Since then, there hasn’t been any test match between India and Australia here. Now it’s Test Match’s turn again. It remains to be seen if Rohit Sharma can also pull off a feat as MS Dhoni under his captaincy.
