Pakistan did not grant airspace to the Indian aircraft carrying relief material in the Turkey earthquake, so it had to make several rounds and land in Turkey from another route. This act by Pakistan has tarnished its image around the world. At the same time, Turkey has praised India’s help and called India a true friend. The Turkish Ambassador to India, Firat Sunel, has thanked this help on behalf of the Government of India. He said that a friend who is useful in need is a true friend.

Firat Sunel wrote on Twitter: “Friend is a common word in Turkish and Hindi… We have a Turkish proverb: a friend in need is a true friend.” thank you so much.’ Earlier on Monday, Union Minister of State (MoS) for Foreign Affairs V Muraleedharan visited the Turkish embassy and offered condolences to him. He also conveyed the sympathy of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

After a meeting of the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), it was decided that the NDRF, medical teams and rescue teams along with relief material would be sent to Turkey immediately. Two NDRF teams, a squad of specially trained dogs and 100 people with the necessary equipment will be sent to Turkey for relief and rescue, the PMO said in a statement.

Explain that the NDRF team arrived in Turkey on Tuesday to help relief and rescue operations in Turkey affected by the strong earthquake. More than 4,500 people have died due to a powerful 7.8 magnitude earthquake in Turkey. A total of 101 people in two teams from Ghaziabad and Kolkata, located near Delhi, were airlifted to Turkey on Indian Air Force G-17 jets along with the team. This is part of the Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) efforts announced by the Indian government on Monday for Turkey and neighboring earthquake-affected regions. The teams will help rescue people trapped under the rubble and provide all possible assistance to local authorities.
