Mumbai: Voices of outrage are rising in the BJP over the denial of tickets to the Tilak family in the Pune Kasbah Assembly by-election. Mukta Tilak who was MLA of this seat recently passed away. In such a situation, it is expected that in the by-election, BJP will nominate a member of the Tilak family for this seat, but it did not happen. BJP has made Hemant Rasane its candidate from this seat. Mukta Tilak’s relatives have expressed their dissatisfaction with this decision by the party.
Mukta Tilak’s husband, Shailesh Tilak, has said that an injustice has been done to us. However, he made it clear that the Tilak family will continue to support the BJP. Shailesh said that when Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis met with us, he had indicated that my family would not be given tickets, but we hoped that later the decision would be in our favour. He said that I feel that an injustice has been done to the memory of my wife, who worked tirelessly for the party and the Kasbah constituency. The Pune BJP leaders are also angry with this decision by the party leadership. He believes that only one member of the Tilak family should have been nominated for this seat.
Mukta Tilak’s husband, Shailesh, said that BJP has nominated Ashwini Jagtap, wife of late BJP MLA Laxman Jagtap, as its candidate for the Pimpri-Chinchwad seat. On this basis, we were also entitled to the Kasba seat, but this basis was ignored.
