Maruti Suzuki Jimny and Fronx rock, more than 11 thousand reservations received in one week

India’s largest automaker Maruti Suzuki has unveiled the Jimny 5-door and the new Fronx subcompact SUV at the Auto Expo 2023. The company has yet to give any information on the pricing and availability of these two cars, but Your pre-reservation began on January 12. Advance reservations have been open for a full week and Maruti Suzuki has reportedly received more than 11,000 reservations for these two cars.

Maruti Suzuki told automotive publication Express Drives that the company received 9,000 and 2,500 confirmed reservations for the 5-door version of the Jimny and Fronx, respectively, in one week. The company began accepting online reservations for these two cars on January 12 at its official Nexa website and offline reservations at Nexa dealerships across the country. Customers wishing to book are required to pay a token amount of Rs 11,000.

The Jimny 5-door is an extended version of the Jimny 3-door. You get a 3-spoke steering wheel and a conventional two-module analog instrument cluster. The center console houses a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. The Jimny is powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine, which is capable of generating a maximum power of 103PS and a maximum torque of 134.2Nm. This engine can be purchased in either a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic transmission. You also get an all-wheel drive system.

The Maruti Suzuki Jimny will be offered in two variants: Zeta and Alfa. You get features like automatic LED headlights, electric ORVM, automatic climate control, and cruise control. The SUV also has safety features such as 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, ESP, Hill Hold Control, Hill Descent Control and Brake Limited Slip Differential.

While the Maruti Suzuki Fronx has a 1.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine, which is capable of generating a power of 98.6 Bhp and a maximum torque of 147.6 Nm. This engine is mated to a 5-speed MT and 6-speed automatic transmission. It will also feature a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that will generate 88.5 Bhp and 113 Nm and will come mated to a 5-speed MT/AMT transmission.
