Oppo A5s design
The Oppo A5s is a lightweight phone and its body is made of plastic. The first thing that will catch your attention is its large 6.2-inch screen. This phone comes with Waterdrop Notch. There are slim bezels on the sides of the Oppo A5s, but the edge at the bottom of the phone is a bit thicker. The earpiece has a spot just above the waterdrop notch.
The Oppo A5s’ back panel is made of glossy plastic that’s prone to fingerprints, but you’ll get a transparent shell in the retail box. There are two color variants of Oppo A5s: one black and one red. The frame of the Oppo A5s is curved, so the phone fits comfortably in the hand.

On Oppo A5s, the power button is located on the right side of the phone while the volume button is located on the left side of the phone. The hand easily reaches the volume buttons. The speaker grill, micro-USB port, and 3.5mm headphone jack are located at the bottom of the phone. The SIM tray is placed on the left side of the phone.
The Oppo A5s comes equipped with a dual-nano SIM slot and a microSD card slot. Two rear cameras and a fingerprint sensor will be placed on the back panel of Oppo A5S for security. To give life to the Oppo A5s, it has been equipped with a 4,230 mAh battery. The VOOC fast charger will not be available in the box with this budget smartphone from the Oppo brand.
Oppo A5s Specifications and Software
Oppo A5S has a 6.2-inch HD+ screen, its aspect ratio is 19:9. Its viewing angles are good but it is not very bright outdoors. In the settings, you will have the option to adjust the color tone of the screen. For speed and multitasking, the MediaTek Helio P35 processor has been used in Oppo A5s, which is clocked at 2.3 GHz.
PowerVR GE8320 GPU has been used in Oppo A5s for graphics. Only one variant of Oppo A5S has been launched, which is equipped with 2 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage. If necessary, it is possible to increase the storage with the help of a microSD card. Connectivity options on Oppo A5s include Dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth v4.2, GPS, Glonoss, Beidou, Galileo, FM radio, and USB-OTG.

When we started using the phone, our review unit was running on the March 2019 security patch. But after getting the phone update, now this phone is running on the April 2019 Android security patch. ColorOS It doesn’t have an app launcher and all the app icons are on the home screen.
The Oppo A5s has some bloatware. Apps like Facebook, Opera, Phone Manager, Theme Store, Music Party, and Game Space are already pre-installed on our review unit. Game Space automatically adds compatible games and gives you the option to block screen glare and block banner notifications to make sure nothing interrupts your gaming session.
You can even uninstall some of these apps to free up storage space. You can change the look of the user interface with the help of free themes. Smart Sidebar is a pop-up tray where you will find application shortcuts and can be launched from any screen. You can also open the app by gesturing on the screen when the phone is in standby mode.
Oppo A5s performance, battery life and camera
Considering the hardware provided in Oppo A5S, its performance is good. The Oppo A5s handles scrolling and opening apps without a problem, but it’s not very fast for multitasking. We found that the phone often had to restart apps as it couldn’t handle too many apps running in the background.
The fingerprint sensor is located on the back panel of Oppo A5s. The hand reaches the sensor easily and unlocks the phone faster. Face unlock support will also be available on Oppo A5S and it works fast too. We liked the screen of the Oppo A5s, but the sound from the speaker is a bit slow.

Compared to most other smartphones we’ve tested in this price segment, the sound quality on the Oppo A5s is below average. The MediaTek Helio P35 processor in the Oppo A5s is slightly more powerful than the Helio P22 chipset in the Redmi 6. The Helio P35 scored slightly lower in CPU and graphics benchmarks compared to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 632 processor found on the Redmi Y3 (Review) and Redmi 7 (Review).
We tried to play the PUBG Mobile game on the Oppo A5s and it was on the default low setting. Game Space was enabled so that the phone would clear the RAM every time a game was launched.
However, the game takes longer than usual to load. We found that the phone would sometimes slow down while gaming, therefore the frame rate had to be set low for a smooth gaming experience. After playing PUBG Mobile for 20 minutes, we found that 4 percent of the battery was depleted, which is acceptable.
The 4230 mAh battery provided in Oppo A5s provides better battery life. The smartphone lasted just under 24 hours in our HD video loop test. We use the phone in normal ways, such as playing PUBG Mobile, using WhatsApp, and using Google Maps to navigate. Even after all this, the Oppo A5S supported me for two days.

The charger that comes with the phone takes over two hours to fully charge the phone. Oppo A5s has two rear cameras, a 13-megapixel primary sensor with F/2.2 aperture and a 2-megapixel depth sensor with F/2.4 aperture. There is an 8-megapixel front-facing camera for selfies and video calls, which has an F/2.0 aperture.
We found the camera app on the Oppo A5s to be very easy to use. In addition to the standard photo and video modes, the Oppo A5s also comes with portrait and panorama modes. In default mode, you’ll find buttons for Flash, HDR, Timer, and Fliter, which you can apply before taking a photo. Apart from this, it has also been given the Face Beauty button. A 2x digital zoom button is also provided.
In daylight, the Oppo A5s catches the light correctly and the exposure in the photos is also correct. The Oppo A5s focuses quickly when taking macro photos. Maintains the distinction between the subject and the background. Details in macro shots were average, and images weren’t terribly sharp. When shooting in portrait mode, we found the edge detection to be less than optimal.
Low-light camera performance wasn’t great. The phone takes a long time to lock focus, so the images lack brightness. Oppo A5s keeps noise in check, but when zoomed in, grains are visible and details are lacking. The details of the selfie taken from the Oppo A5 were well captured and the phone handles the exposure correctly.
Both the main and front cameras are capable of recording videos at a maximum resolution of 1080p. But video stabilization is not provided on Oppo A5s.
our decision
Oppo A5s has been launched in the sub-Rs 10,000 price segment in India. In this segment, this Oppo-branded smartphone will have a tough challenge. The main selling point of the Oppo A5s is its battery life. We found the camera’s performance to be satisfactory, but we’ve seen better in this price segment. The Oppo A5s only includes 2 GB of RAM, less than other market options in this segment.
If you don’t like to play games on your smartphone and care about battery life, Oppo A5s may be a good phone for you. But if performance is important to you, then the Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 (Review) and Asus ZenFone Max Pro M2 (Review) are better options in the same price segment.<!–
