Daily digital news desk: Sometimes only two days. Pakistan lifts ban on online database Wikipedia It is reported that the ban on this online platform has been lifted on the instructions of that country’s Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif.
Pakistan banned Wikipedia two days ago. It was alleged that this online database was fueling heresy in the country. Anti-religious writings appear on Wikipedia. Articles written on anti-religious topics have been known to be removed within 48 hours. The Pakistan Telecommunications Authority (PTA) gave such instructions to Wikipedia. But despite that warning no action was taken. That is why the online platform was ordered to be shut down on February 4.

The PTA said on Twitter: “Wikipedia has been instructed to block or remove articles on heresy. But they did not take any action on it within the stipulated time. Not only that, the instructions of the PTA have been deliberately disobeyed. Even after administering 48 hours, the offending material was not removed. That is why Wikipedia is banned in the country.” Whether or not Wikipedia removes all articles on heresy, or how long they take positive action, will determine whether they will be unbanned. PTA says so.

The Pakistani government formed a 3-member committee to investigate these events. After the 3-member committee submitted its report, Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif ordered the wiki unlocked. Pakistan’s Information Technology Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb said that the Pakistani Prime Minister has ordered the start of Wikipedia services. Not only that, he has formed a committee to decide what will be displayed on said online portals. In fact, the Sharif government in Pakistan is already at a financial disadvantage. In this situation, the Pakistani government did not want a new number to be created with Wikipedia. Hence this decision.
