New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi mourned the death of prominent filmmaker K Vishwanath on Friday. He said that Vishwanath was one of those film stalwarts who established himself as a creative and versatile director. K Vishwanath, who received the Dadasaheb Phalke award, was known as ‘Kalatpasvi’. He died Thursday night at a private hospital in Hyderabad. He was 92 years old.

In a tweet, the Prime Minister said: “Saddened by the passing of K Vishwanath. He was a stalwart of cinema who distinguished himself as a creative and versatile director. His films spanned a variety of genres and captivated audiences for decades. Condolences to his family and fans.” Sources said that Vishwanath was unwell for some time and suffered from age related problems.
