Former Indian batsman Suresh Raina is quite surprised by the Australian team’s decision to hold situational practices instead of playing warm-up matches ahead of the Border Gavaskar Trophy, starting in Nagpur from the first test on February 9. The Australian team is currently training in Bengaluru and practicing on bouncy pitches and Baroda spinner Mahesh Pithia, whose bowling action resembles Ravichandran Ashwin, has been called up to bowl.

But Raina, one of India’s best white ball players, feels that the Australian team will miss out. Raina told PTI on the sidelines of the annual ‘Mission Olympics’ organized by the ‘Police Family Welfare Society’: ‘I’ve played practice matches before the Test and they are really important. They (Australia) can understand Indian tones only by playing on them. ,

Raina is confident that India will do well in the four test series and the return of Ravindra Jadeja will bring a good balance to the team. He said: “I am happy to have Jadeja back after a long time. Raina said: “Our spinners R Ashwin, Akshar Patel are doing well. Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are in good form and I think we will see a good series.
