Jaipur: Congress leader Sachin Pilot kicked off a five-day ‘Jan Sangharsh Padyatra’ on Thursday, ratcheting up the pressure on state chief minister Ashok Gehlot and the Congress high command ahead of Rajasthan’s assembly elections. Starting from Ajmer, the journey will come towards Jaipur and will cover a distance of approximately 125 kms. As per the schedule, the pilots will meet near Ashok Udyan on Jaipur Road before starting the journey on Thursday afternoon. Overnight rest on the first day will be at Tolamal village in Kishangarh.
It should be noted that while announcing the yatra here on Tuesday, Pilot had said that he would continue to raise the issue of corruption and would hold a Jan Sangharsh Padyatra between Ajmer and Jaipur on May 11. He said: “I have continually raised the issue of corruption. I raised it before, I am raising it even today, and I will continue to raise it further. Pilot had said: “I am going to put out a Jan Sangharsh Padyatra on issues related to corruption and youth interests, which will start in Ajmer on May 11. We will come towards Jaipur and this journey will be about 125 kms. We will listen to his voice and we will also raise his voice.

Let us tell you that Pilot also observed a one-day fast here on April 11 to act on the alleged corruption cases of the previous BJP government led by Vasundhara Raje. Pilot on Tuesday took aim at Rajasthan Prime Minister Ashok Gehlot, saying Gehlot’s recent speech shows that his leader is not Sonia Gandhi but Vasundhara Raje. Pilot and Gehlot have been at loggerheads over “leadership” since Congress formed the government in the state in late 2018. (agency)
