According to the International Data Corporation (IDC) report, HP ranked first in PC shipments in the country. Dell came in second with a 23.6 percent market share. The company shipped more than one million units in both the third and fourth quarters. Dell continued to lead the business segment with a 38 percent share. The company benefited from increased demand from IT companies and ITES.
According to the report, Lenovo ranked third in the fourth quarter and last full calendar year. It registered a year-on-year growth of 22.8 percent. In the Small and Medium Business (SMB) segment, Lenovo was second only to HP with a 24.7 percent share. However, the supply interruption affected the company’s total shipments.
Acer and Asus ranked fourth and fifth. Both companies maintained their positions with 8.2 and 5.9 percent participation, respectively. The report claims that Acer was among the companies that benefited the most from the recovery in the desktop category. It secured the second position in the commercial segment with a 25.8 percent share. Acer’s position in the business desktop market has remained strong over the years. Asus posted growth of 36.1 percent last year. Its performance in the commercial segment was excellent and the company’s growth in this was 227.2 percent year-on-year. There is a lot of competition between big companies to increase sales in India, which is included in the largest PC markets in the world. Because of this, these companies often offer discounts as well.
