Reliance Jio launches 5G network in 10 cities, high-speed coverage reaches 236 cities

The country’s largest telecommunications company, Reliance Jio, on Tuesday launched its 5G services in 10 cities across eight states. With this, the company’s 5G network has reached 236 cities. Company users in these cities will be invited to use the Jio Welcome Offer to use unlimited data at speeds up to 1 Gbps at no additional cost.

The company has started these services in Hindupur, Madanapalle and Prodattur in Andhra Pradesh, Raigarh in Chhattisgarh, Talcher in Odisha, Patiala in Punjab, Alwar in Rajasthan, Mancherial in Telangana, Roorkee in Uttarakhand and Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh. The Reliance Jio spokesperson said, “We are happy to introduce 5G services in 10 cities across eight states. With this, the company’s services have reached 236 cities.” The spokesperson said that users in these cities will get a better telecommunication network, as well as many opportunities to advance in e-government, education, artificial intelligence, automation, gaming, IT, agriculture and healthcare.

Bharti Airtel and Reliance Jio, two big companies in the telecom sector, have set themselves the goal of converting 150 million mobile phone users to 5G by March next year. Both companies are increasing their 5G coverage. The rate for this high-speed service may also be increased. Executives and analysts associated with the telecommunications industry say that the next fiscal year will bring a big change for telecommunications companies. In addition to increasing the reach of their 5G service, these companies will also focus on improving their network.

These companies can invest Rs 1.5 lakh crore in the next financial year. In the last three years, some companies have exited the indebted sector. Late last year, Telecom Secretary K Rajaraman said: “This year has been exciting because of 5G. This is a big step forward. We are looking forward to the rapid expansion of 5G next year.” He said that the government will continue to take measures to reduce the operating cost of telecom operators. Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel jointly added around 2.5 million mobile subscribers in November last year.
