Retail Inflation | There is no relief from inflation! Retail inflation rose to 6.52% from 5.72% in December

New Delhi: Retail inflation rose to a three-month high of 6.52 percent in January. With this, inflation has returned to exceed the satisfactory level of the Reserve Bank. Inflation based on the consumer price index was 5.72% in December and 6.01% in January 2022.

Inflation in food items was 5.94 percent in January compared to 4.19 percent in December. Previously, retail inflation stood at an all-time high of 6.77 percent in the month of October.

The Reserve Bank of India mainly looks at retail inflation while considering monetary policy. The central bank is responsible for keeping inflation at 4 percent with a range of 2 percent.
