New Delhi. Russia has again intensified missile and drone attacks against Ukraine. The Russian military carried out a series of missile and drone strikes in eastern and southern Ukraine early Friday morning. The Ukrainian army said that Russian forces carried out heavy shelling in the industrial east of Ukraine, especially in the Lugansk and Donetsk oblasts. At the same time, in Zaporizhzhya, there was a fierce shelling by drones and missiles 17 times in an hour. Russia also rained bombs on Kharkiv. This shook Kharkiv and Zaporizhzhya. Loud air raid sirens resounded throughout the area. People living in houses were taken to bunkers. Panic broke out throughout Ukraine. Many basic buildings collapsed like houses of cards and caught fire. For a long time the sky was seen to turn black and red due to flames and smoke.
Let us tell you that Moscow-backed separatists have also been fighting the Ukrainian army since 2014 in the Lugansk and Donetsk region. The Russian attack damaged vital infrastructure in Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second-largest city, and energy infrastructure in Zaporozhye in the southeast. In view of Russia’s fierce attacks, the Ukrainian military sounded air-raid sirens across most of the country. Anatoly Kurtiev, secretary of the Zaporozhye city council, said the city was attacked 17 times in one hour. According to the private power operator DTEK, power was cut in the city of kyiv, the Kyiv and Dnipropetrovsk regions due to fears of a missile attack. Serhiy Popko, head of the Kyiv city administration, said “there is a great risk of a missile attack.” Mayor Ihor Terekhov said that in Kharkiv, the authorities are receiving information about the victims and the damage. There could be interruptions in power and water supplies, he said.
