He had 23 hits in the medal game, second only to China’s Wang Shiwen, who won the gold medal with 25. Liu Yangpan won the bronze medal in a game that pitted three Chinese against one Indian.
Sameer had finished fourth in qualifying with a score of 573 and then hit 10 to Yangpan’s 12 in the qualifying round to reach the medal round. Meanwhile, his teammate Udayveer Sidhu also made it to the qualifying matches but finished fourth in one of his elimination matches. He was seventh in qualifying with a score of 569.
