Karachi. Gunmen shot dead seven people, including a tribal leader, in Pakistan’s troubled Balochistan province. Police gave this information on Friday. The Levies Forces, a paramilitary force in Balochistan, said the incident occurred on Thursday in the Murga Kibzai area, some 80 kilometers from the city of Zhob. Police said gunmen opened fire on a vehicle carrying seven people, including tribal leader Ahmed Khan Kibzai, and two of his brothers, killing all of them in the incident.
Police said the gunmen fired at the vehicle with automatic weapons. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack. Police said Kibzai had local enmity and that may have led to the attack. The deteriorating law and order situation in Balochistan province adds to the problems of the federal government which is already trying to revive the country’s economy.
