Sourav Ghoshal missed out on gold, got silver

Saurav Ghosal missed out on winning the squash gold medal at the Incheon Asian Games.

In the final match, he defeated Kuwait’s Abdullah Almazayan 12-10, 11-2 in the first two games.

But after that they couldn’t keep their grip on the competition.

The third game turned out to be very exciting as Abdullah Almajayan came from behind strongly to win the game 14-12.

Following this, Abdullah won the next two games 11-8, 11-9 and broke Saurav Ghoshal’s dream of winning the gold medal.

Saurav Ghoshal had to settle for the silver medal. This is India’s first silver medal at the Incheon Asian Games.

Previously, at the 2006 and 2010 Asian Games, he managed to win bronze medals in squash.

In 2013, Sourav Ghosal became the first Indian to reach the quarterfinals of the World Squash Championship played in Manchester, England.

He got his first big break in the squash world when he won the British Junior Open title in 2004.

Saurav Ghosal was born in Kolkata but after completing his education, he joined an academy in Chennai to learn squash.
