New Delhi. Lakshya Sen couldn’t believe her eyes when legendary cricketer Sunil Gavaskar turned up at the Prakash Padukone Badminton Academy (PPBA) in Bangalore to meet him and the young players. Gavaskar, 73, a member of India’s 1983 World Cup-winning cricket team, arrived at the academy on Thursday during his regular visit to the city. PPBA co-founder, director and head coach Vimal Kumar said that he had a meeting in Bangalore and decided to meet the rising youth of the academy. Badminton and cricket are his two favorite sports. He stayed here with us for an hour.
Gavaskar later posted his photo with Lakshya Sen on Instagram and captioned it as Lakshya Sen, my new badminton hero after Prakash Padukone. Legendary cricketer Gavaskar has praised Padukone many times during his cricket commentary and considers him one of the best players in India. Sen was among the best players in India in 2022.
