The planet discovered by the James Webb Telescope was previously classified as LHS 475 b. This is an exoplanet. The term exoplanet is used for those planets that do not revolve around our Sun. This planet called LHS 475 b is reportedly similar to our Earth. Its diameter is 99 percent of the diameter of the Earth.
This planet was first detected by NASA’s Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS). So it looked like it might be a planet. This was confirmed after inspection with the James Webb telescope. LHS 475 b is 41 light-years from Earth in the constellation Octans. However, it is difficult to say at this point how much life is likely to exist on this planet like Earth.
In the coming days, scientists will try to understand what the planet’s atmosphere is like. The team of scientists has yet to determine whether or not the exoplanet has an atmosphere. Although scientists feel that there can be no such atmosphere on this planet, as it is on Earth.
There are other special things about this planet, for example: it completes its orbit around the Sun in just two days. This means that the planet is very close to its star. Its Sun’s temperature is less than half that of our Sun, so researchers estimate it may have an atmosphere.
