The full name of MRI is Magnetic Resonance Imaging. It’s some kind of scanning machine. These are very powerful and controlled electric fields, radio waves and computer technology. With their help, detailed pictures (images) of the inside of the human body are extracted. This is medical imaging. X-ray radiation is not used in this. MRI technology is often used to detect disease, diagnose and monitor treatment. Most MRI machines are large, tube-shaped magnets.

The MRI test is used for the following:

How is an MRI done?
Before the MRI procedure, you will need to change into a hospital gown and remove any metal items you are wearing. You will need to lie on a retractable table during the scan. This table will then go inside the domed scanner. Your head or your feet will go in first.
When you lie down inside an MRI machine, the magnetic field temporarily rearranges the water molecules in your body. Radio waves produce signals from these arranged atoms. These are used to create cross-sectional MRI images. These images are made as if roti were placed on top of roti.
Why are voices heard during MRI?
It is important to remain still during the procedure to obtain a sharp, accurate image. You may hear loud banging or popping during the scan. There is nothing to worry about. This knocking occurs when the electrical current in the coil of the MRI scanner is turned on and off.
The entire process can take anywhere from 15 to 60 minutes, depending on the part of the body being scanned and the number of images taken.
After the scan, an experienced radiologist will review these images and describe the problems to the patient. If there is any disease, a report will be made. People who have a pacemaker, have bullets or shrapnel inside their bodies, or have cochlear implants cannot have an MRI.

How long does it take to prepare the result and report?
After the MRI test, these images are transferred to a hard copy and CD. The radiologist then summarizes the MRI images in a report. The MRI procedure lasts from 15 to 90 minutes. The MRI report is available within 6 to 24 hours after the procedure in most cases.
What are the advantages of MRI?
- Magnetic resonance imaging is a non-invasive and painless imaging technique. There is no radiation risk in this.
- Soft tissue structures in the body, such as the brain, spine, joints, heart, liver, and many other organs, can be more accurately identified using MRIs.

MRI can be of two types.
The magnetic field strength of a 3T MRI is twice as strong as that of a 1.5T MRI. Because of this, 3T MRI provides extremely clear and deep images. The 3T is suitable for brain, vascular, musculoskeletal, and small bone imaging. When the number of patients is high, it is necessary to perform magnetic resonance imaging frequently. A shorter scan time is beneficial in making it easier to image more patients.
