Kailashahar (Tripura): After accusing the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) of exploiting the people of Tripura for years, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said on Tuesday that the face of the state has changed after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) came to power. Addressing an election rally in Kailashahar in Unakoti district, he said that Tripura is now moving towards economic development.

Singh said: “The entire North East is experiencing rapid development with the help of the internet. Tripura is moving towards economic development. Singh said: “The CPI(M) proclaim themselves to be the savior of the poor, but they are the ones who exploited the poor for years. He did nothing for the poor. The face of the state changed after the BJP came to power. The people made the BJP a hero from scratch.”

Singh, who arrived on a two-day tour of the state ahead of the election on Monday, said the BJP brought development to the state, which had poor infrastructure under the CPI(M) rule. “There are now electricity, water and road connections as the BJP government is taking all possible measures to speed up development. On the issue of not respecting women in the CPI(M)-led government, he said: “But they are getting respect and benefits during the BJP’s tenure.”

Singh also claimed that the violence has stopped in Tripura. “The country has become stronger under the leadership of Narendra Modi and the world wants to hear what India has to say,” he said. He urged people to vote for BJP in the upcoming assembly elections to continue the development of the state. Votes for the assembly of the 60 member states will take place on February 16, while the vote count will take place on March 2. Former Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb also addressed the rally.
