Turn Lenovo laptop into a smart display, Amazon’s new display mode feature

Some Lenovo laptop models will now support Amazon’s new Show mode that turns the computer into a smart display with a single command. With the help of this feature, you can use your laptop as a smart display. With the help of simple voice commands, you can do things like trending news, listen to music, and set timers from any corner of your room. Amazon says this interactive, voice-first Alexa experience will roll out soon to select Lenovo models like the Lenovo Yoga, IdeaPad, and ThinkPad. Let us tell you that all these models work with Windows 10 software.

In a blog post, Amazon said that this new display mode is compatible with many Alexa features. With this, you can do many things like popular recipes, play games, set reminders, make to-do lists, have Audible read your favorite Audible audiobooks, and much more. Furthermore, users can also control many compatible devices through the laptop. To start Show Mode on a compatible computer, say “Alexa, open Show Mode” or click the Show Mode button in the Alexa app on your laptop.

The company said in a blog post that with Alexa’s ‘set it and forget it’ Show Mode experience, users can now talk to Alexa on a bigger screen. For this, you don’t need to get in front of the laptop or reach out to your phone every time.

Currently, Show Mode will be available on select Alexa-enabled models such as the Lenovo Yoga, IdeaPad, and ThinkPad PC in India, Austria, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Japan, New Zealand, UK, and US. They all work on Windows 10.

Lenovo first announced Show Mode at CES 2021, where it was said that this feature will be a first for the Yoga Slim 9i, Yoga 9i, Yoga 7i, Yoga AIO 7, and IdeaPad 5 series. For a hassle-free experience, Lenovo advises its users to keep devices unlocked with the flip open and support far-field microphones. Amazon said that now the company is looking to expand the scope of compatibility and that Show Mode will soon be available on other computer models by the end of the year.
