US offer to Russia: The US White House has rejected a report that CIA Director William Burns has agreed to end the Russia-Ukraine war as part of a peace plan prepared by the Biden administration. Russian President Vladimir Putin received an offer of 20 percent of the area of Ukraine.
A CIA official told Newsweek that the report, which includes director William Burns making a secret trip to Moscow in January and making a peace proposal there, is completely false.
Russia and Ukraine rejected the offer.
Last month, The Washington Post reported, the CIA director made a secret trip to Kyiv to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and brief him on the plan. NZZ later reported that William Burns was trying to broker a peace deal between the two countries, but both Ukraine and Russia reportedly rejected the offer.
i don’t want to see ukraine ruined
NZZ reports that Ukraine has rejected the proposed peace deal because it is not ready to divide its territory, while Russia has said it will win the war in the long run anyway. Sean DeWett, deputy spokesman for the White House National Security Council, said the report was not accurate.
William Burns and Biden’s national security adviser Jake Sullivan wanted a quick end to the war so they could focus on China, while the report further claimed that Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin , they wanted Ukraine to be in the hands of Russia. I want to see it ruined. However, the United States called for massive military support for Ukraine.
